These are the terms for using the service at https://host.buildat.org. It is run by Perttu Ahola ("we"), who can be reached at host@buildat.org. By making a server you agree to these terms.

Price and the closed beta

The service is a paid one. It is now in a closed beta, and is free for the closed beta's duration, by invitation only:

An invitation is a voucher for one server, free for 6 months from the day the server is made. The control panel shows the date its free period ends.
Before the free period ends, you can start a paid subscription to keep the server. Subscriptions are offered in the control panel before the first free periods end, with their prices and terms.
If no subscription is started, the contract ends with the free period, and the server and its data are removed, as at the end of any contract. Download the server's data before then if you want to keep it. We remind you in the control panel 30 and 7 days before the end.

The service

We run a Buildat server for you at an address under buildat.app, with the size you chose:

The service is provided as it is, without any warranty. A server may be down or slow, and data may be lost. We keep a daily snapshot of each server's data for 3 days, which you can restore the server to from the control panel. We also keep backups for 14 days, but those are for our own recovery from a failure, not for restoring single servers. Download a copy of the server's data whenever it matters to you.

Your part

You are responsible for your server and everything on it, including what its players put there. You must follow the acceptable use policy. If your server keeps personal data about its players, you are its controller (see the privacy notice).

What we may do

Take a server down at once when the server breaks the law or the acceptable use policy, or when a notice about the server calls for that. The server's address then shows a page saying it was taken down. We tell you why in the control panel, with a statement of reasons, and you can ask us to reconsider by writing to host@buildat.org.
Stop an idle server. If nobody has joined a server for 30 days, we stop the server and tell you in the control panel. If the server is still not started again 90 days after that, we remove it. You can download the server's data until then.
End the service, or your use of it, with 30 days' notice in the control panel, or at once for a serious breach of these terms.

Your data

Your servers' data is yours. You can download a server's data from the control panel at any time while the server exists, and run it on another Buildat server, here or anywhere else, your own included.

Liability

While the service is free to you, we are liable only as far as the law requires, and not for indirect losses or lost data. These terms are under the law of Finland.

Changes

We tell you of changes to these terms in the control panel 30 days before they apply.
